History 2004 - 2012 (beta)
History
The beta version of Furry Paws started in october 2003.
Way back in february 2004, I started FP on account #31665, wich quickly became a breeding kennel, and I took #36692 as a competitor kennel. At that time, a third account, #41500, was my training kennel.
In the beginning, the kennel name was "Sheepgame", and I bred and showed Australian Shepherds.
Later on, I added Cocker Spaniels to my breeding/showing program, and changed the name of the kennel to "Hi-Flyers". The kennel prefix was "HF".
The kennel grew, I had some ups and some downs, many of my Aussies and Cockers found their way to the achievement boards and even to the Hall of Fame.
After about 2 years, I got fed up with the site's slowness, and noticed I was spending (much) too much time online, so I went on a 6 months break. When I came back, there was SEF and Genetics, so I was again enthusiastic and motivated.
I continued breeding/showing my old lines, thanks to some friends who gave or sold me some puppies having Hi-Flyers ancestors in their pedigrees. I added Portuguese Water Dogs to my breeding/showing program, on my 3rd account #41500, wich became a competitor kennel by the name of Raynbow Ranch.
My nickname for that kennel was Raynbow, and the prefix was RAYN.
My PWD's ran up the boards, my Aussies and Cockers were not doing too bad either, but because of my job, I could not enter my dogs in their shows each day, and I was dissapointed because my dogs were becoming less competitive, and again, I was spending too much time on the game.
At that point I quit, thinking I was leaving forever. But I did come back after a break of almost a year, hoping that with the account-locking feature, my dogs would be entered every day of their career.
But then again, real life took over, and I went on another long break.
In the beginning of september 2010, after almost 2 years hiatus, I gave FP a go again. I decided not to participate in "boosts" anymore, and I sold kennel #41500.
However, I was disgusted by the fact that to be truly competitive in the game, it was necessary to continually participate in "boosts", otherwise the dogs had much less chances in leveling, and for that reason, I quit once again.
.
I spent a few months testing the "FPaw" version, but knowing we would not keep our dogs when the game transferred to it's final version, I was not motivated to continue.
I've re-started since december 15th 2012.
The game is more user-friendly and less time-consuming.
So we'll see how this goes.
Update, 16.06.2019:
Still here ! Been playing on and off since 2012, finding satisfaction in levelling my dogs, as well as achieving personal goals and color projects. YAY !
